Brow Confidence is all about building a community of women who want a better future for their brows (and go to Lien Davies for it!). In this new series of journal posts, every month we’re helping you get to know your fellow Brow Confident sisters better by taking a look at their brow experiences, routines and tips. I’ll start us off…
Occupation: Beauty Editor at GrittyPretty.com
Tell us, what was your first brow experience?
My first ever experience of getting my brows done came at the same time most of beauty experiences did – in preparation for year 10 formal. I had crowdfunded a modest beauty budget from my relatives for a spray-tan, hair, makeup and brows. To be honest, my brows weren’t even that bad so I could have easily left them.
Alas, I got them waxed because at 15 I knew less than nothing about beauty and while they weren’t terrible, they did look stiffer than glue on the night. Needless to say, I’ve been fighting the good fight for tweezing-only ever since.
What is your current brow routine?
If I wake up early enough, I’ll define the shape of my brows with Tony Moly Auto EyeBrow Liner in Black or Revlon Colorstay Brow Pencil in Soft Black. After that, I’ll run a brow gel through them (highly recommend Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow), which deposits pigment and micro hairs so brows look full.
Tip: With brow gel, I use my right hand to brush up the hairs on my left brow and my left hand to brush up my right brow; I find this is the most effective way to get hairs to stay upright. I also tease the hairs by brushing the brow gel up and down and side to side, this way there’s enough product to envelop each hair so it holds.
If I’m feeling lazy or after I’ve seen lovely Lien, I won’t do much. My brows are succulents, they don’t need too much attention. Maybe a bit of brow gel to get all the hairs pointing in the same direction, that’s it.
