Brow Confidence is about building a community of women that want a better future for their brows – and go to Lien Davies for it!
This month, say hi to Lisa.
Name: Lisa Patulny
Occupation: Writer, stylist, and founder of Call Time On Melanoma
Tell us about your first brow grooming experience?
“I probably first had my brows waxed when I was about 15. At the time I thought they looked great, but when I look back at photos I cringe. At that stage I had no idea what my brows should look like, I just put my complete trust in the beautician I saw every other month. I would ask her to keep them ‘as full as possible’. She didn’t.”
What is your current brow routine?
“Thanks to Lien, very minimal. These days I pluck and shape about once a week, and tint when I think of it—maybe monthly. Day to day, I use Benefit’s Precisely, My Brow Eyebrow Pencil in an ashy brown shade to fill in gaps and add definition, then brush brows up and set firmly in place with West Barn Co.’s Soap Brows Kit. On no-makeup days I might use Glossier’s Boy Brow.”
What does “Brow Confidence” mean to you?
“It means being empowered with the skills to own your own beauty. Having worked as a beauty editor for over a decade, I can tell you that good brows have the power to change the shape of your face and make it appear more youthful. For me, they just make me feel more beautiful.”
How did you find out about Lien?
“I found Lien through Zoë Foster-Blake’s (now defunct) beauty blog Fruity Beauty over ten years ago. (!) I thought Zoë’s brows were incredible so when she named Lien as her go-to expert in a post, I was sold. I reached out to make an appointment and remember being very intrigued by Lien’s process. From memory I sent through a photo and was asked to grow out my brows for a few months before coming in. Lien was the first person I’d met who seemed more concerned with delivering a beautiful result than making money off appointments. And then, of course, once we did meet I was blown away by Lien’s skill and passion for sharing those skills. I adored her immediately. I’ve not seen anyone else for brows since—Lien is the best, no doubt.”

Biggest lesson you’ve taken away during your time with Lien/Brow Confidence?
“That everyone has their own individual ‘best shape’, and following that God-given guide is often the best chance you have of achieving brows that suit your face. Wanting super-bushy or very fine brows if you weren’t born with them is a) probably not gonna happen, and b) possibly not the best brow look for you anyhow.”
Describe your brows in three words –
“Work in progress.”
