Brow Confidence is about building a community of women that want a better future for their brows – and go to Lien Davies for it!
This month, say hi to Nip.
Name: Nipuni Mallawarachchi
Occupation: Early Childhood Project Officer
Tell us about your first brow grooming experience?
“Growing up I had very thick, hairy brows and (being completely honest) an ethnic monobrow. So my first brow experience at 14 felt like a godsend at the time. A quick wax at the local hairdresser, left me with two eyebrows and a distinct space in between. I remember feeling so great about them. But looking back on photos now, I cringe at how misshaped they were!”
What is your current brow routine?
“I tweeze to get rid of unwanted strays in between appointments, where Lien works her magic!
“I take pride in how beautiful [my brows] make me feel.”
What does “Brow Confidence” mean to you?
“Having brow confidence has really been about a change in mindset for me. Because I used to feel so self conscious about my brows, I neglected to maintain them. Now, I don’t leave home without doing them! I take pride in how beautiful they make me feel. They frame my face and are one of my best assets.”
How did you find out about Lien?
“Back in 2016, I decided I wanted to have thicker, more natural brows for my wedding. So I decided to grow out my brows for 6 months. The problem was that I didn’t trust anyone to shape them, I had had too many bad experiences. One day, I saw the gorgeous Zoë Foster Blake had tagged Lien in one of her Instagram pics. I swiftly sent Lien an email requesting her wizardry for shaping ‘the bushy fox tails over my eyes.’ (This is a true excerpt from my email.) The rest is history.
“I had never had someone work on my brows with such precision and care.”
Biggest lesson you’ve taken away during your time with Lien/Brow Confidence?
“When I look at my brows at the end of my appointment with Lien, I always let out a little sigh of joy. Thick brows can still be fluffy and feathery! Lien has (very patiently) taught and empowered me with the skills to maintain my brows in between visits. We’ve come a long way! ”
Describe your brows in three words –
“Thick, striking, TAMEABLE.”
