Why tinting is not a flattering brow treatment

For women who enquire about my service they are often surprised by the fact that I don’t offer tinting (and waxing).

For as long as they can remember, they’ve always had them done that way from salon to salon - to darken their fair/blonde brows or to fill their gappy/sparse brows. They will tolerate the unflattering result - over done and slightly angry-looking for the sake of having some resemblance or an illusion of thicker brows. In most cases, women don’t realise there are better options for them to experiment with.

A quick disclaimer before I continue, amongst my client base, I only offer tinting to a handful of clients who already have beautiful brows but need a bit for definition. They are in the ‘exception to the rule’ category that most women don’t fall into.

Reasons why tinting is not a flattering brow treatment:

1. Looks unkempt and harsh

The stain of the tinting can often look dirty and blotchy even with proper cleansing. It’s distracting to look at because it overpowers your face.

2. Exaggerates the unevenness of the brows

Unless you have beautiful, balanced brows, tinting your brows only highlights the problems, may it be uneven in shape, thickness and height.

3. Leaves brows looking more sparse when tinting wears off

When the stain on your brows wears off, the contrast between sparseness and darken brow hairs look more obvious than before.

4. Doesn’t always cover grey hairs

Since it’s hard to target only grey hairs, the only option is to tint the whole brow which in most cases looks darker but the stubborn grey hairs may not be coloured.

My solution to tinting:

To problem-solve thinner brows, light brows and sparse brows, a combination of a fibre-tinted brow mascara and a colour-matching brow pencil will instantly transform your brows.

Use the brow pencil to fill in the gaps or widen your brows to your desired thickness before adding two layers of tinted brow mascara to darken and thicken every strand of your brows.
