Eleanna Hingston

Say hello to Eleanna

Here we feature a different woman in the Brow Confidence community and ask her about her first brow experiences, the lessons she’s learned, and her top brow tips.

Meet BC woman Eleanna Hingston, who describes Brow Confidence as never having to live in fear of having a dreaded ‘bad brow day’.

Name: Eleanna Hingston
Age: 28
Occupation: Freelance makeup artist and Mecca Colour Specialist

1. Tell us about your first brow grooming experience?

I was 13, I had a pair of deliciously fluffy, unruly natural brows. It was 2004 and not only did my best friend have naturally wafer-thin, sculpted brows, but so did Mischa Barton. So needless to say, in an effort to achieve thin, sculpted brows (okay, maybe I didn’t care so much about the ‘sculpted’ aspect) I attacked my brows with my mum’s tweezers. This went on for the next 5 years until I started getting them waxed or threaded at random places that could squeeze me in for an appointment on the day.

2. What is your current brow routine?

I alternate between Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil and my trusty Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in the shade Smoke to shape and fill in the gaps as needed. I brush them up and hold in place with Pears soap. I finish off with a few stokes of Hourglass Arch Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel to give them a bit more fluff and fullness.

“Feeling content with the brows I’ve got, and never having to live in fear of having a dreaded ‘bad brow day’”

3. What does brow confidence mean to you?

Feeling content with the brows I’ve got, and never having to live in fear of having a dreaded ‘bad brow day’. (You know those days when you couldn’t get the shape of your brows right, resulting in painfully overfilling them three shades too dark.) It means having the tools and know-how to style and achieve your dream brows every day.

4. How did you find out about Lien?

I found Lien via Instagram about 3 years ago. I remember being in desperate search of somewhere new to get my brows done, off the back of a bad waxing experience right before a big event. When I came across Lien/Brow Confidence, and I was instantly soothed and refreshed after reading about her methodology and brow philosophy, I had never come across anyone like Lien before.

After our initial phone conversation and hearing a few gentle honest truths about how and where my brows needed correction, I was ridiculously excited to meet Lien for our first appointment. I remember being incredibly in awe of how Lien transformed my brows, and how much it changed the shape of my whole face (I still get that ‘in awe’ moment every time I see Lien). One of the other things I noticed about Lien in our initial appointment and I still love to this day, is how much Lien puts me at ease. Lien has such a calming nature about her, I trust and respect her so much and I know can truly relax knowing I’m in the hands of a true expert.

“[Brow Confidence] means having a trusted guru and friend to reach out to when your brows get a little unruly.”

5. Biggest lesson you’ve taken away?

How to correct my brows using Lien’s formula. It’s a technique that I use every day on myself and on my clients as a makeup artist. Once you understand Lien’s formula, there’s no brow that baffles you. Lien has also taught me that your natural shape isn’t usually your most flattering brow shape, and there are no quick fixes when it comes to brows. There are no magic products, quick-fix treatments (micro-blading, lamination) that can fix or transform your brows that work long term. You have to put in the hard work to learn how to do your own brows and transform everyday them yourself using quick and easy techniques.

6. Describe your brows in three words:

Thank. You. Lien.

Brow Confidence is about building a community of women that want a better future for their brows.
